If all goes well, we'll be heading out a week from tomorrow in the early morning, destined for Boulder. It's about a sixteen hour drive, so we'll get there that night. Exciting! Emma is coming with us, of course. I just wish we could take the kitties with us. I miss my sweet babies when I'm away from them!
Boulder is where we ended up staying on our very first trip together. So, we've decided to go back for our last week of vacation this year. It'll give us some good memories to help us get through these unbearable winters here. The room we've reserved is a suite with a full kitchen and fireplace. This is extra nice because we'll not only be able to curl up by the fireplace on the cool nights, but we'll be able to cook a meal and eat it while enjoying the crackling fire. I don't mind eating out, but it gets old. Having a meal that you prepare yourself can make all the difference sometimes.
Speaking of food, Boulder is extremely vegan friendly. There's even an organic, vegan fast food restaurant, VG Burgers, that's literally 2 minutes away from the hotel we're staying at. Woo hoo! We'll be giving them a visit at least a few times during this stay. Boulder is also quite dog friendly, or at least by my standards, they are. They boast three fenced dog parks, which isn't too bad for a city their size. All of them are within a short driving distance from our hotel, too, so we seem to have picked out the right place to stay!
Other than visit the dog parks so that Emma can meet some Colorado pooches and do her duty, we'll be visiting some of the state parks that are nearby (eight of them within an hour's drive or less!), going to Rocky Mountain National Park one day and doing a lot of hiking. Boulder has a ton of hiking trails, so we won't even have to leave the city to hike if we don't feel like it. We've been to Rocky Mountain National Park several times before, but it's been a few years and we miss it. We're going back just to ooh and ah at it's beauty. Emma's not allowed on the trails there, so the time we spend there will be purely touristy sightseeing time. Plus, I want to get a picture of Emma at 12,000 feet. :)
So, watch out Boulder, because here we come! If we like you enough, we might just be coming back again next year.
