Boulder, Part 2

Well, I think I can safely say that we would never, ever get bored around here! We've been going almost non-stop and I'm pleasantly exhausted. Need I once again say that I love it here? Well, I'm going to. I love it here.

Last night we decided to check out Boulder Creek Path, a long trail that goes throughout the city along Boulder Creek. It's a very nice path that's split in two paths for a lot of the way- a paved section for bikes, rollerblades, skateboards, etc. and an unpaved one for runners and walkers. We went along it for about a mile and decided to turn around. It was nice, but very busy, so we were constantly moving over for others. I'd definitely run or bike on it, but probably wouldn't take a walk on it again. When we got back to our car, there was a mama red squirrel munching away on something in a tree. She was absolutely adorable! After that, we took Emma to the dog park to take care of her business and then called it a night. Speaking of the dog park, I can't get enough of the foothills one. The prairie dogs and setting is something I could see every day and never get tired of!

Today we headed off to the dog park once again and then headed to Rocky Mountain National Park. We stopped at Estes Park for a little while to walk around, and I'm so glad we did. It's a town that we've stayed in several times before, which we always loved. The park is just a few miles down the road from it, so it's a gateway town to it. We decided to stop off at the lake there and walk around the path for a while so that Emma would get tired out. She tends to get whiny & squirrely in the car, which makes for an unpleasant car ride sometimes. As soon as we started walking, we saw a herd of elk just laying feet away from the path. There was a big male, several females and some youngsters. Then, farther down the path, we discovered a dog park, so we let Emma run around for a while. There was a small agility course in one of the sections which helped us get her nice and tired. On the way back to the car, we saw a badger by the lake's edge. That's something you don't see every day because they're pretty elusive!

We then went to Rocky Mountain National Park and spent the better part of the day driving Trail Ridge Road, stopping often to take pictures, shoot video and admire the view. Other than some elk, there wasn't any wildlife out but that was okay because the scenery was breathtaking. It's a park that we've been through quite a few times, but I could never get tired of it. We drove all of Trail Ridge Road to Grand Lake, where we stopped for a short walk, then we turned and headed back. On the way back, we stopped at a picnic area to have a lunch that we packed in an area that we had all to ourselves. Very nice!

Once we got back to Boulder, we stopped at the dog park once more and then went to VG's for dinner. I had the sunflower burger and a chocolate shake, which weren't too shabby. Mike had the 1/4 lb. burger, chili cheese fries, regular fries and a chocolate shake. He seemed to really like it all (did I mention how he's a bottomless pit that never gains any weight?).

For pictures of everything, please visit my flickr page. Be forewarned, though. Once you see some of the scenery, you'll have to visit here!

Two days left until we head home, so there will be more to come. Stay tuned!
