Boulder, Part 3

Yet another day in vacation paradise! We started off the day by going to the dog park where Emma chased after the ball for a while and I got to watch the prairie dogs some more. I just love those little critters!

We then drove to Golden Gate State Park, which was a gorgeous drive into the mountains. The road wove along Boulder Creek and there were bus stops for miles along the drive, which we thought was pretty damn cool. You can just jump on the city bus and go out of the city to hike, bike or just sit and contemplate things in nature.

The park was in the middle of nowhere at about 8500 feet and was quiet solitude at it's best. We hiked around for a while and then headed back to Boulder, planning a few stops on the way back at places that we wanted to check out. The first stop was at a huge reservoir in Nederland which the city of Boulder built by damming Boulder Creek, which supplies water and power to Boulder. We stopped by the reservoir for a few minutes, then headed off again, stopping once along the creek and then once more at Boulder Falls, a small waterfall that's a short walk from the road.

After getting back into the city, we stopped at the dog park to let Emma take care of business, then went back to our room and had vegan calzones from a place called Skinny Jay's. They were as huge as my head and very good! After resting in our room for a few hours, we headed back to the dog park and then went hiking in the foothills behind it for a while. I once again adored the prairie dogs while we were there. They're just so damn cute!

Tomorrow is our last day, which is bittersweet. I love it here immensely, but I miss my kitties even more, so I'll be very happy to go home to them. I also miss our comfy bed!

  1. Aw, I wish you could have your kitties out there with you. But Boulder will always be there.
