Homeward Bound

All three of us were pretty beat today from yesterday's hikes, so we took it easy. We started off the day by going to the dog park, of course, then went to St. Vrain State Park. The park was okay, but a bit disappointing. It had a lot of birds and waterfowl with a few trails around the small ponds, which was awesome, but it was also right next to a highway and very small. Not so awesome. Still, we needed something nice and relaxing with no strenuous inclines and St. Vrain park delivered.

When we got back to Boulder, we got lunch and then decided that we should start heading home. So, I booked us a room in happenin' North Platte, Nebraska, which is 1/4 of the way home. This will let us get home much earlier tomorrow and avoid driving at night. A huge bonus.

Before we left, we went to the foothills dog park one last time to watch the prairie dogs and let Emma enjoy herself. It was very bittersweet. While I miss Crystal and Sophie kitties terribly, I had a very hard time leaving Boulder. On the way out, I cried, which has never happened before. I guess that it just felt like we were leaving a place that we really felt that we belonged. We were all so happy there and it just felt right to us. Still, I love my kitties and my home, so I'm happy to be arriving home tomorrow.
