Fall is a great time for hiking and for those who are lucky enough to live in or near mountains, taking a gondola up a mountain can bring you to an area that you normally wouldn't be able to access. During the warmer months, many places allow dogs on gondolas, often free of charge. They must be well-behaved, of course, and skittish dogs most likely wouldn't do well on the ride, so make sure to take your dog's personality into consideration before taking them.
Some of the places that have gondolas that allow dogs during the warm months are-
-In California: Squaw Valley, Mammoth Mountain, Trees Of Mystery (Klamath) & Olympic Valley
-In Colorado: Telluride, Aspen & Steamboat Springs
-Wildcat Mountain in Pinkham Notch, New Hampshire
-Stowe, Vermont
That isn't an all-inclusive list, so check your nearby gondola to see if they allow dogs. If anyone does take their dog (or has already), I'd love to hear about the experience! Happy hiking!
