This is great for serving over food and as a travel or hiking treat. I love to eat it, too!
3 cups oats
½ cup wheat germ
½ cup unsalted raw sunflower seeds
½ cup unsalted raw peanuts, chopped
¾ cup maple syrup
1 tsp. vanilla
1 cup dried, sugar-free fruit** (no raisins, they are toxic to dogs!)
**We like to use apples, cherries, blueberries or goji berries.
Preheat the oven to 300 degrees.
Mix oats, wheat germ, sunflower seeds and peanuts in a large bowl. In a small bowl, mix maple syrup and vanilla. Pour the syrup mixture over the dry mixture and mix until thoroughly combined.
Spread the mixture out on a large cookie sheet and bake until golden brown- approximately 25 to 35 minutes. Watch closely because it can scorch quickly!
Remove from the oven and mix in the dried fruit. Cool completely before serving and store in an airtight container.
I love granola and your grrranola sounds fantastic! Little Maggie won't be able to share in this treat though, since she is lacking toofies. :(
ReplyDeleteAw, I love the pic of Emma and Rowan with all the colorful leaves. The granola sounds delicious!
ReplyDeleteMichelle- that's too bad that Maggie won't be able to have any of it, but at least she can eat most of my other treats. :)
ReplyDeleteRose- the granola does turn out pretty good. Emma & Rowan get impatient with me because I eat so much of it.... lol
that sounds soo yummy and again... your dogs are soo freaking cute! I have been so busy that I haven't had a chance to read my favorite blogs and I have missed out on so much! But your blog is my favorite and puts a smile on my face every time! ;-)
ReplyDeleteAw, thanks Terrah! It sounds like you've been super busy lately! I hope all is well. :)
