There's another reason I don't have nearly as many recent photos as I'd like. My current camera is only a year old, but I despise it. After reading reviews about it, it seems as though quite a few others are having problems with it, too. It often puts a dark black shadow in the lower left hand corner of my pictures, the color is way off and the flash makes everything look this sickly color. So, I might just be getting the SLR camera that's been on my wish list for quite some time. I'm leaning towards a Canon Rebel, but if anyone has any other suggestions, I'd love to hear them!
Okay, enough rambling rantiness. Onto the pictures. Sophie's favorite place to snuggle, besides my lap (where she happens to be right now!), is on a blanket that's draped over our big chair. We've been using a fluffy red blanket for a while now, but her "making bread" on it has caused many snags and since we got our rug, it just didn't match the colors of the room anymore. So, it was time to retire that blanket for other uses and get Sophie a soft new blanket. As soon as I put it on the chair, she sniffed it and laid right down. I think the green really suits her and brings out her beautiful eyes.
Emma's as much of a fan of winter as I am. Her ventures into the yard are quite short and she'll lay in front of the fireplace for hours. Over the winter, Sophie has been keeping her company a lot.
Just recently, Emma's had more company around the fireplace because Crystal has decided to take full advantage of it. If Emma's not on the bed, she'll sometimes lay on it, but otherwise prefers to sleep on the little rug in front of it. I've tried putting a kitty bed in front of it, but she wouldn't have anything to do with it.
Isn't she adorable? The heat has to feel so good on her little bones. Over the last few weeks, she's become quite demanding about me turning the fireplace on. If it's off, she'll stand in front of it and yell at me. I don't mind, though. She deserves to be demanding in her old age!
You may notice that there are never any pictures of Rowan in front of the fireplace. While she's a big snuggler, she's not a big fan of heat and unlike her sister, she doesn't mind the cold or snow. Some days, she'll even lay right down on the snow to sunbathe!
Today, we're getting yet more snow. At least it's giving me a chance to work on indoor projects so that I'll have more time to spend outdoors when the nice weather finally comes.
Oh, I love those pictures! I think it's great that the felines and canines get along so well. We just got two puppies in January and we are working with them and the kitties to make sure everyone respects each other. :-)
ReplyDeleteI just realized that mr vegan flower is surrounded by a lot of lovely females!! Is he really the only boy in the bunch?
ReplyDeleteSophie is a gorgeous kitty-she kind of matches sweet Emma! I am partial to beautiful black and white kitties so Crystal is definitely a cutie pie!! And Rowan looks like she wants to come live in the snow at DVR-silly pup! What a beautiful fuzzy family-glad you posted pictures!
Xoxo
wow you are right! green really is her color! i loved that mini story:) isnt that horrible when you get something nice,(camera) and then it just goes wrong! i hate that too! i hate(while we are ranting) long winters also...when are you coming to AZ? :) the winter this year was really short! (but it was long two years ago)
ReplyDeletelooking at Rowan makes me cold...
blessedmama- I hope all is going well so far with the pups and kitties! It can be trying introducing them to each other, but after a while they seem to work things out. :)
ReplyDeleteDVR- Mike is the only boy in the bunch, sometimes. My two stepsons live with us most of the year, so when they're visiting their mom, Mike's definitely way outnumbered!
dirtyduck- I'm so disappointed in my camera. It took me forever to pick it out and I ended up paying just a little less than I would have for a SLR. Argh! Oh well. It'll be my purse camera once I get the SLR, so it's not all a waste. We're actually leaning towards Albuquerque right now, but Tucson is still in the running. This summer we'll be visiting ABQ for the first time, so who knows. So far I'm really loving everything about it, though! At least we'll be close by if we do end up there. :) Oh, and Rowan leaves Emma and I quite flabbergasted and horrified that she loves to do such a thing. Brrrr!
Bummer about the weather, you're more than entitled to rants about snow at this stage! The snuggle pictures are great though. I love that Sophie and Emma snooze on the same pillow, and Crystal really is a treasure, she looks so relaxed and loving the warmth.
ReplyDeleteWhat's up with Rowan though? lol, she's definitely a cool weather type of girl.
Oh I wish with all my heart that Elli and our resident kitties would get along. KitKit is getting meaner, I swear, so much that Elli cowers in a corner if KitKit gets mad at her lol. But Cleo and Elli are doing better - ish. Elli now allows Cleo to come downstairs, so long as she gets a treat for it. ;)
ReplyDeleteMy camera is as busted as it gets. Dang thing. I've only had it for two years and I have to get another one. I was definitely** looking at the Canon Rebel as well. I mostly want it for action shots - it sucks when you can't take un-blurred pictures of your pups running around and going crazy, ya know?
came back to see "warm kittly by the fire" and to ignore "cold dog lying in snow" lol
ReplyDeleteeither place you will be happy in id say:)
Rose- Rowan is more of a cool weather type of girl, but she also loves to sunbathe with her sister in the summer. I'm glad she's versatile!
ReplyDeleteXimena- that's the reason I want the Rebel, too. There are so many missed opportunities! I might just have to bribe myself to get it so I don't feel so guilty....
dirtyduck- well, we'd definitely be happier in either place than we are here, but I'm sure one will be a bit better than the other. I can't wait to visit ABQ to see!
So nice that everyone holds their pose while you take their pics.
ReplyDeleteI love all the pics. I'm with Shen...your babies seem to love to have their picture taken. I'm lucky if I get one good one out of the 10 that I take of Maggie...ha
ReplyDeleteVery smart to want to be in front of the fire. That's too funny that Crystal yells at you to turn the fire on. :o) I just want to give them all a big hug!
More snow? I bet you are sick of it! Just as I am of the rain here. But snow makes a god excuse for a a fireplace. Looks so cozy.
ReplyDeletesophie is quite the beauty on her green blankie. i love all of your pictures, your crew is so photogenic!
ReplyDeleteSuch cute pics! Crystal looks so cozy in front of the fireplace :)
ReplyDeleteI'm glad that everyone liked the pics!
ReplyDeletebitt- I'm sooooo sick of snow! It's melting, though, ever so slowly. Some day, it shall be spring again. :)
What happy photos! We just had a bit of snow this week, I couldn't believe it! I am very ready for spring.
ReplyDeleteWhat kind of camera do you have? Sometimes I'm quite fond of my camera and other times I wonder if I should have picked something else. But I think much of trouble is that I've never taken the time to do much with it. If you find a winner, I'd love to hear about it!
More snow for you? Oh my. I'm hoping we've seen the last of it. I'm also ready for spring!
ReplyDeleteMy current camera and last two have been Canon Powershots. I loved my first one, but it just wore out after a while. The second one was also pretty good. This third one is just awful, which really surprised me. I like Canon cameras, for the most part.
That is a shame. I have a Cyber-shot DSC-H5. Hopefully I will learn how to use it better this year. I would really like to get something smaller for traveling.
