Since finding several yurts that are dog friendly, I've been wondering what other unique types of dog friendly lodgings there are out there. It turns out that there are several!
The beagle you see above is a one of a kind type of lodging- The Dog Bark Inn in Cottonwood, Idaho. The inn is a bed & breakfast that's inside a twelve foot beagle (the world's largest beagle, by the way!). During your stay, make sure to visit their gift shop, which is filled with the chainsaw art of the owners of the inn.
I'll be adding to this list as I find more. If you know of any lodgings that should be added, please let me know! If you're a camper, you may also be interested in my other list- Campgrounds & RV Parks With Fenced In Dog Runs (and parks).

Other Lodgings
Winvian in Morris, Connecticut has very unique cottages. Dogs are allowed in the Stone, Connecticut Yankee and Greenhouse cottages.
Kate's Lazy Meadow Motel in Mt. Tremper, New York is Kate Pierson's (from the B-52's) creation. The cabins have 50's style kitchens and really unique decor, all situated on a gorgeous nine acres of land. Dogs are allowed in suites 1, 7 & 9 as well as The Lazy Shack, Cabin & Lodge.

I remember seeing this Dog Place on TV!! How cute!! Kind of jealous as one of our dogs is SO shy & we basically keep her "housebound" as she freaks on a leash AND is a major escape artist, if not in the house. But travelling WITH your kids sounds like SO much fun.
ReplyDeleteSorry! What I meant to say was:
ReplyDeleteHaha! I love that Beagle B&B...I want to stay there even without a dog (since we don't have one in the family right now...and my mom's doggie would never let her out of her sight long enough to stay in a B&B!)
Who knew so many cool places existed? This is a great resource...I wonder if most of them take cats too...what about rats? :P
How fun! Love this B&B. I wonder if I could do this with my house... ;)
ReplyDeleteLOL - that is awesome! How can any other unusual dog-friendly lodging ever top actually staying inside a giant beagle? :-)
ReplyDeleteSome of the other places on your list look fun, I'd love the experience of staying on a houseboat. Nice to see Wyoming is represented, and wouldn't a caboose be fun! Is Sparta far from you?
Fun post! If I come upon any unique critter-friendly lodgings I'll pass it along!
What a cool looking place! Now I want to go to Idaho. :o)
ReplyDeleteVery informative list, and that 'dog house'... wow! cool as!
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend
ciao

Aren't these fun places? Thanks for the comments, everyone! I've added a few more to the list and will hopefully find more over time.
ReplyDeleteLaurie- Sparta is pretty close to the Minnesota border, so it's about a 3 1/2 hour drive from us. Pretty close, I guess!
