Emma's birthday isn't until tomorrow, but it was only right & proper to celebrate all weekend. She started it off by doing a few of her favorite things- sleeping in and lounging around.
She practically shoved me out of bed to get my spot.
We slept in with her snuggling between us for a while, but she wanted to sleep in much longer, so we tucked her in and got up. Rowan decided to keep her company for a while.
After the birthday girl decided to get up, she went about her morning business and then decided to perch on the couch arm to watch out the window. It was hard work and she soon grew tired.
To alleviate those aching muscles and bones from all of that hard work, she decided to lay by the fireplace for a while.
We also took her for several walks through the woods & fields by our house. Hunting season just started, so this is the next best thing to hiking that we have for a while.
After all of that work & exercise, she was quite famished, so we brought out her cake. It's a carob cake frosted with natural peanut butter, then topped with green pepper that spelled out her name and six baby carrot "candles". She waited very patiently for it.
Very, very patiently.......
Both of the girls were so excited when I finally put slices on plates for them.
The next minute (and that's literally all it took for them to eat the slices!) was a blur of frenzied cake eating, as Emma demonstrates below-
After the cake eating, we sat down to watch Emma's favorite show, Pitbulls & Parolees. She loves all of those handsome, muscley boys! It's so cute how they'll watch the TV when other dogs are on it.
Tomorrow, Mike has to start work at 3:00 am for a 12 hour day, but we'll still be getting a walk in (weather permitting), more cake eating and lots of snuggling.
Happy birthday my sweet snuggle buns! Mama loves you so much that I could burst!

ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday, Emma! Absolutely adorable all around :)
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone! :)
ReplyDeleteHappy belated birthday, Emma! You are SO WELL-BEHAVED! Most of the dogs I know couldn't handle sitting next to a cake without diving straight in. Your mum must be so proud of you! :)
ReplyDeleteAwww..Happy belated Birthday to Emma! She knows how to spend her days. I love all the pictures especially the one of her all snuggled up in the bed. :o)
ReplyDeleteGreat post Molly and I'm glad to see Emma had a very cool birthday...our Sock Stealer only wishes he could get his paws on one of those cakes! lol ~R~
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Emma! Sounds like a wonderful day, I might copy you exactly. I am wondering when the newest season of Pitbulls and Parolees is coming on.
ReplyDeletePs: Sienna is mad she didn't get an invite to the party.
We love Emma. Thanks so much for sharing all of those photos!
ReplyDeleteThanks again, everyone!
ReplyDelete*special note to Sienna*- you need no invitation, sweetie, 'cause you're always welcome here! :) Oh, and tell your mama that the new season of Pitbulls & Parolees started a few weeks ago.
So much fun! Happy Birthday Emma aka Shadow's twin sister, well almost...lol.
ReplyDeleteMolly, you are a wonderful pet parent. Both of you are.
Thanks Jeri! :) Hugs & belly rubs to Shadow!
ReplyDeleteHappy Belated Birthday, dear Emma! I'm sorry I missed it, didn't see this post till yesterday and then didn't have time to send you a proper comment! It looks like you had a wonderful (and lengthy) celebration! :-)
ReplyDeleteYou are definitely not a morning person, are you?! LOL Can't blame you, sleeping late on a frosty winter morning is a pretty darned good deal, and if you have to shove your mom out of bed to get the good spot and all the covers, well... a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do. Besides, you have to build up your reserves for strenuous sofa-perching and window-watching later! Not to mention hikes and cake-snarfing. (And don't think for a minute that we grownup humans wouldn't eat our birthday cakes with the same gusto if only we hadn't invented table manners!) ;-)
Enjoy the rest of your birthday week, Emma! Live long and prosper, and keep having fun!
Happy belated birthday to Emma! Loved the pictures. Your two are just adorable!
ReplyDeleteHappy belated Birthday, Emma! Great looking cake, do you have the recipe?
