This is my first time participating in Skywatch Friday, inspired by Laurie over at Mehitable Days. I hope to do this more!
Mike and I couldn't resist taking a quick drive to the lake before work to see the sunrise a little. It had just started to get spectacular when we got there and sadly, we couldn't stay very long. I did manage to capture some of it, though. This is an unaltered, straight out of the camera shot-
As we were driving away from the lake towards work, we could see the color spreading through the sky more & more. This was one of those rare ones that make the entire sky look like it's on fire. Just gorgeous!
It was a wonderful, beautiful start to what turned into a very ugly, stressful day (oh the joys of being a manager), so this seemed to be nature's way of giving me something pure & joyful to get me through the day. It certainly did help!
I hope that everyone has a fantastic weekend!
Oh, YAY! I'm tickled sunrise-pink that you participated in SkyWatch! Your inaugural submission is a beaut with its gorgeous, glowing colors, plus the bonus of it being reflected in the waves. How nice that you and Mike took those few minutes for yourselves before work, and were rewarded with such a handsome sky. I love those sorts of sunrises like you describe, they're really special (and nigh impossible to capture completely on film).
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry the beautiful start to your day didn't fulfill its promise. Maybe it was one of those "red sky at morning, sailor take warning" sunrises. (Or in this case, "manager take warning!") ;-) But at least that spectacular sunrise gave you something lovely to hold on to, and I hope your weekend is nothing but restful and fun!
Back when I was raw and brushing my skin and not washing my hair, I used to stand in my bare feet and stare at the sunset for a minute every evening.. It was cool. Heh heh!
ReplyDeleteAre you allowed to divulge what you're the manager of?
OMG that sunset is stunning! Thanks for sharing the pic with us! So beautiful.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I love the contrast of the dark expanse of the water and the fiery break in the sky changing into vibrant pink and indigo. Truly a lovely thing to witness. I don't get up anywhere near early enough to see the sunrise...I must make the effort.
ReplyDeleteSorry about the stressful day...I know those kind. At least it's Friday! Happy weekend Molly.
Laurie- I wish I didn't have to start work so early because I'd love to watch the sunrise more. It was nice to get those few minutes this morning, though! Our weekend is already a great one. I'm all de-stressed and ready to have some fun (and sleep!). :)
ReplyDeleteSV- I manage an inventory control department in a grocery warehouse. I do love my job and have a great boss. It's just other people that can stink sometimes, but for the most part it's all good.
vava- Isn't it gorgeous? The photo does no justice to the actual sight, but then again it never does.
Rose- It's funny that I do get up so early now because I'm definitely more of a night owl, and always have been. I wouldn't mind working nights again someday. I'm very, very glad it's Friday. The stressful day is already forgotten! :)
Absolutely gorgeous! Nothing like nature to turn your mood around.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous!
ReplyDeletewhat a beautiful sunset! great pic!
ReplyDeleteCraftyEarthMama, Stacy & Sara- thanks! I hope you're having a great day. :)
ReplyDeleteWow the sky is ablaze with beauty! Gorgeous shot.
ReplyDeleteThanks Gigi!
ReplyDeleteYou manage an Inventory Control Department in a Grocery Warehouse? I had to retype it and repeat it to myself so I can remember. Sounds like an unusual job. Like, how hard is it to control the inventory? There's a whole department for it?
ReplyDeleteMost larger warehouses have IC departments. It is pretty involved & it's much more than just counting stuff. It's a small department, just me & 5 people, but we keep very busy. Unusual, but I like it. :)
ReplyDeleteI hear ya! I can see where it would be an issue to have the inventory out of control.
ReplyDeleteI have always loved such shots! Breathtaking with brilliance!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful sunrise...I can't think of a better way to start the day.
ReplyDeleteThanks firasz & Michelle! :)
