Aistream Spotting & Painted Airstreams

We don't see many Airstreams around here, so when we do, we get more excited than we probably should.  There is one that we see in this storage area for trailers on our way to Milwaukee, which I've been wanting to stop and photograph for a while.  Today was the day.  It was very cold, but sunny and we had some extra time to kill, so we stopped.  I ended up going with black & white because it gave it a nice vintage feel.
There are other Airstreams I've seen online that I would absolutely thrilled to see in person.  Other than a few collars and blankets for the pups, I don't have any Hello Kitty things, but I love her nonetheless.  This 30th anniversary one of a kind Airstream is as cute in the inside as it is on the outside.  You can see more pictures of it here.
The amazing Terrah of Driftwood Jones and The Road To Dog restored her Argosy, complete with this gorgeous paint job.  You can see more photos of it on her Flickr, along with the rest of her beautiful photography.
"Big Red", owned by Chelsea Ann of Itty Bitty Birdy is quite the attention grabber!  Isn't it great?  You can see more pictures on her Flickr.
Speaking of red Airstreams, this one was posted over on Wandering Airstream.  I bet it's even cuter when the awning is pulled out!

  1. Those are so neat! Have you ever thought of getting a 4x4 diesel Sportsmobile since you just have 2 doggies? That's what we hope to get one day-of course we will run it on biofuel :) There are some gorgeous ones out there!

  2. We have! We've actually considered it all- from teardrops to Class A motorhomes, but we keep coming back to Airstreams. We're hoping to eventually get a smallish type vehicle like the VW Touareg that will pull it & that we can also convert to biodiesel. That way we can still be a one vehicle household. :)

  4. I never knew I even liked Hello Kitty until now. Maybe it's because it looks like I can take a happy vacation vacation in it. I don't have to go anywhere. Just sleep in it and I'd be a happy camper. These look so fun. Thanx for posting.

  5. Andrea- we have so many ideas! Someday, maybe. :)

Gigi- isn't it adorable? I don't think I could ever get into tent camping. Maybe, but I definitely prefer the "glamping" style.

Red- I'm right there with you on the drooling!

  6. Aw, these are a delight! I hate cars, preferring to get around on my bikes, but the airstream truly is a classic. Love, love, love.

  8. It's so great that you and Mike both want to live the Trailer lifestyle. I'm thinking I will just have to buy my Airstream and hope Mr. SV follows along eventually.

  10. I thought by 'airstreams' you meant those vapour trails you get after planes go by and so I was expecting some sky pictures! Now I know! I'm not surprised you like them so much! They're so retro looking! Great photos!
