broken arm = all lower case (plus some food)

not blogging is starting to make me a little sad, so i'm finger typing with one hand this short, and hopefully sweet, post. no caps, no frills  i hope nobody minds!

last wednesday while mike was at his basketball game, i made dinner (this was pre-arm break)- african sweet potato and peanut stew.
we had tofu satay with broccoli and quinoa one night, a recipe we've made many times and i can't for the life of me remember where it's from. (mike's been doing all of the cooking since i broke)
also, mexiquinoa from 500 vegan recipes- i topped mine with avocado.  it's so good!
i was going to try to make it to work this week but am in too much pain without my pain pills, so i took the week off.  been getting to spend lots of time reading, sleeping and resting with the girls.  i can't really complain!
on monday they'll hopefully be able to take more xrays to see how bad things are.  i might not get a cast at all- only the splint, and he didn't think i'd need surgery.   i'm going to try to comment more on everyone's blogs, but can only sit up for short periods of time.  my arm swells up something fierce if i don't keep it elevated and iced!  i'm still reading everything, though.

i hope you're all having a great week!

I'm totally impressed you're blogging at all- don't stress the caps or formatting- we all get it. And you're still cooking?! wow. I would be subsisting on fruit at this point. I love the look of the sweet potato stew.
I hope you get good news from the x-rays & feel better soon xxx

  6. red- thanks, i really am enjoying my time off! not how i planned using some of my vacation days, but it's all good. :)

sara- i only cooked the first meal, actually, before i broke my arm. i can hardly make a pb&j sandwich now! lol

sv- lol, love that, call to arms. i did indeed get lucky- have had my leg bound up before and that made things extremely difficult. a broken arm i can deal with.

claire- thanks! i think my super vegan healing powers will kick in and amaze the doctorts. mua ha ha! see my response to sara above about the cooking ;)

stacy- i seem to have given everyone the wrong impression about the meals..... i'll have to go and edit it!

  7. Glad to hear you took the week off; you certainly deserve a rest and you're arm will heal better with all the rest and the love from your animal companions; good for the soul! I wish you a speedy recovery.

All the meals look fantastic! I'm especially drawn to that tofu satay; I'd love to tuck into a big plate of that right now.

  8. Good for you taking the week off. I hope you mend up really quick. Your husband sure knows how to cook! Thats one of my favorite qualities in a man.

I sure appreciate your taking the time to blog despite the break. Looks like Emma is doing her best to help. Dogs just know this stuff. (maybe cats too sometimes).

Hope the meds help even if they make you out of it. xoxo licks from my pups and purrs from the kitty

It's nice to have such loving pets to help you heal :) They will probably be your best medicine.

I hope all goes well with the doctor! Get well soon and thanks for updating us!

  17. Very dedicated you are, typing with one hand! I've read some blogs where the people always type in all lower case and they don't have your excuse.

The tofu satay with broccoli looks very yummy. It looks like seitan to me, and I love seitan.

Cuddling up with your dog - one of the nice things about being laid up with an injury. Take care.

  18. Ooo, ooo! I'll have the tofu satay, please! That looks so delicious!

I'm sure glad you took the week off, Molly, and hope it's helped. Are you feeling any better by now? (Actually, I was going to tell you not to go to the trouble to type a reply to my comment, then I go and ask you a question. Well, you can type "Y" for yes or "N" for no). :-) You suffered a bad trauma, and I'm not surprised to hear you're exhausted. I think our bodies pour pretty much everything they've got into healing. It's great that you're eating foods that really help that process!

You probably know this, but Sheboygan made the national news because of the kerfuffle over your mayor. My ears perked up like Rowan's when I saw "Sheboygan" in the headlines! :-)

Feel better, Molly, and enjoy the playoffs! (LOL)

that mayot of ours has been such a scar on sheboygan. walker has made things bad enough! aargh!

mike will defintely enjoy the playoffs while i'll be sitting next to him for support, only i'll be reading or writing. :)
